The Creative Introvert Podcast

Are you a creative? A maker, a doer, an (over)thinker, an entrepreneur who gets their energy from within, who enjoy their time alone, and who is most creative when working solo? That's exactly who this podcast is for. Each week, I'll be bringing you a heady mix of practical philosophy, psychology and mysticism (with a dash of irreverence) in order to bring to light ideas that you can experiment with in your daily life. http://www.thecreativeintrovert.com/

What is creativity anyway? What does it mean to create, to be creative? Is it something we all have? Can we all do it? Can we all be it?

And if so, can we become more creative? Is there some kind of definitive measuring stick for creativity?

Now that’s the INTJ in me speaking, but really I think it’s a great starting point for a juicy episode of the creative introvert, and on today's show I’m hoping to go down some paths that don’t just stick in the realm of abstract ideas about creativity, nor do I want to strip creativity from its magic, the kind of stuff that attracts us to the creativity in the first place.

Mariëlle is a writer and editor and coaches writers and other creatives who are tired of being in their own way. Next to her non-fiction work, she is currently working on a YA urban fantasy series, and she writes LGBTQIA* sexy romance with Sìne Màiri Ní Ailpín under a pen name. She recently moved to Cyprus, an tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea, where she organises private writer's retreats, is inspired 24/7, and feeds more stray cats than she could have ever imagined.

We discuss:

• Using tarot and other divinatory tools in your creative work
• How to tell if it's your ego speaking or your intuition speaking
• Mariëlle's creative process, as an INFJ
And much more!

Today I want to talk to you about wanting things, all the things - and why we simply can’t get what we want. Ever. Sorry to burst your bubble. I promise there will be something redeeming and positive in today’s message: I want to prove to you that it can actually be a GOOD thing - it might just take a while for us to get to it. It’s worth it though.

Today’s guest, Josh Ryan is a designer and illustrator based out of Houston, Texas. He specializes in creating products and visuals that connect people through shared experience, emotional connection, and quirky humor. Josh’s work has been featured on HuffPost, Forbes.com, Houstonia Magazine, the Houston Chronicle, and - most importantly - his mom’s refrigerator.

We cover a lot of ground including how Josh managed to run a kick ass kickstarter campaign, as well as getting a book deal and life with a full time job and at least 3 side projects on the go.

I hope you enjoy our chat as much as I did!
